Ikigai is “a motivating force; something or someone that gives a person a sense of purpose or a reason for living". - Oxford English Dictionary.

The Japanese term “ikigai” or the “art of living” refers to the practice of living a purposeful life with respect to a person’s sense of the self. The book Ikigai: The Japanese Secret to a Long and Happy Life, written by Francesc Miralles and Hector Garcia Puigcerver.

The book provides a ten-point compressed rule of ikigai:

1) Stay active; don’t retire.

2) Take it slow.

3) Don’t fill your stomach.

4) Surround yourself with good friends.

5) Get in shape for your next birthday.

6) Smile.

7) Reconnect with nature.

8) Give thanks.

9) Live in the moment.

10) Follow your ikigai.

It is a very refreshing, insightful, and interesting read. I recommend the book Ikigai for anyone who is frustrated by their work, or who is stressed and busy at work and doesn't have time to live their lives, or who doesn't have a purpose in life and feels lost, or who is discouraged by failures, or all of the above. People who live unhealthy lifestyles, such as those who eat junk food, don't exercise, drink and smoke, and so on, may benefit from this book. Ikigai can teach anyone the importance of living a purposeful life. This book is for anyone who wants to live a long, happy, and purposeful life.

It will make you realize that we have been overpowered by technology in some way or the other and have lost the core of making small things valuable and enjoyable.

Apparently, multitasking is the new “Trend” but eventually, we lose out on focusing on “One” thing thereby decreasing productivity.

The competitive corporate world or rigorous studies will definitely educate us but if the time is not managed properly, it will cost our health. Do we want that after so much investment?

No right!

Let’s start a new “Trend” of Meditation. A maximum of 10 mins would suffice your health, brain cells and TRUST ME it will increase your thinking power.
